I’m Natalie. I started my first diet at age 11! I thought dieting was a normal thing that women did..so I wanted to do it too. I tried the military diet, skinny teas, Weight Watchers-you name it, I tried it. I yo-yo’d with my weight throughout my whole middle school and high school years. Losing 5 pounds, gaining 10 pounds, and on and on. When I got to college, I realized I had no idea what I was doing when it came to eating. I gained 20 pounds what felt like almost instantly.

NUTRITION, METABOLISM, WEIGHT LOSS

I was depressed, I never wanted to leave my dorm room, let alone go to class. I knew something had to change, but I also knew that I couldn’t go back to dieting. It was like my body rejected it. So, I switched my major to nutrition. I learned about the human body, the metabolism, how to use food as medicine and so much more! Through what I learned in school and a lot of trail and error, I was able to heal my relationship with food, lose 20 pounds and have kept that weight off for years. Since I graduated and became a registered dietitian, I have helped hundreds of others lose anywhere from 10-100 pounds. Which has been truly amazing !

My. Story

But Something Was Missing 

I could tell that this wasn’t it. It was no longer enough for me to just help people lose a few pounds. While yes that’s great and all, I wanted to go deeper. I wanted to get to the root of why they were gaining weight in the first place. I have worked with both men and women, and my female clients had such a harder time losing than my male clients. Why is it so much harder for women to lose weight than it is for men? I needed to know these answers.

And in this process, things started happening to my body. I noticed I was gaining weight around my midsection and my thighs. I was more bloated, my face was puffy, something just felt off. I knew something was different, but couldn’t put my finger on it.

The craziest part was my weight didn’t change! I was having all of these body changes and transformations and the number on the scale wasn’t that different. Nor did anything change with my food or exercise.

Nothing changed, but it felt like my whole body did! I went to my doctor and was told I was fine and nothing was wrong with me.

So I had to take matters into my own hands. I went to what I do best-research…and I found something amazing!! I discovered that what I was experiencing with my body was hormonal imbalances which were affecting my metabolism. This was it!! While yes I always knew about hormones (I had to take A LOT of anatomy, biochemistry, and science classes to become a dietitian) I became obsessed with them!

Because they are the driving force for so many things in our bodies, this is what is missing at the core of traditional diet programs. Traditional programs actually go against our metabolism and hormones, and make it HARDER for us to hit our goals.

I immersed myself in learning as much as I could about hormones. I read so many research articles, took a functional medicine course, listened to countless podcasts, read so many books. I told you… obsessed.

Something else I discovered along the way was other symptoms that I experience were caused by hormonal imbalances too. Things I thought were “normal” and was told were normal by my doctor.

  • Severely Painful Periods and PMS, almost can be classified as PMDD (a severe form of PMS)

  • Migraines and almost daily headaches

  • Ance

  • Brain Fog

  • Cystic Breasts- I even had a breast tumor! (don’t worry i’m fine <3)

  • Spotting before my period

  • And more

It was time for me to make changes.

Instead of the traditional “eat less” strategy we’ve all been told (which I never believed in). I eat to nourish my metabolism, I support my fluctuating hormones, I utilize being a woman to my advantage. And….

I’ve Never Felt Better

  • I have more energy at almost 30 than I ever did in my early 20s

  • My abs are coming back!

  • I feel stronger, sexier and more confident in my body than I ever have

  • I went from daily headaches- to rarely getting a headache

  • No more spotting before my period

  • I have less PMS symptoms and barely any cramps when I do get my period

  • I feel more connected to my body

  • My skin is clearing up

  • I’m thriving !
